Japanese Cryptic: Shooting star

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

"Ah! Look mom, a shooting star."

"Say your wish before the star disappears."

"I want to meet with dad as soon as possible."

"You shouldn't say such a thing."

"Okay...Then, I wish him to live a long life."

  1. So the child was talking to his dead mother? She wanted to "meet with dad"(wanted the father to die so she can reunite with his ghost) but the child said she shouldn't say such a thing so she wished for the still alive dad to live a long life

    1. Hehe. You understood correctly, but the person making the wish is the child. Both the child and the mother are dead. She asks the child for a wish. The child wants to meet the father, but for that to happen the father would have to die. So she asks the child for another wish.
