Gakkou no kaidan: From hell to heaven

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Translated from the DS game  Minna de Taikan Dokusho DS - Chou-Kowai! Gakkou no Kaidan

tv-dark-room

I'm called the master of video-games by my friends. Well, I'd say it's quite true as no one in my class can play better than me. Though, there are times when I lose. The one guy who is able to defeat me is Osamu-kun of the other class. He is known as the video-game emperor among his comrades. The total video-games he possesses outnumbers mine by a substantial quantity.

His friends say that he plays everyday till late night until his parents arrive from work. That's also the reason he keeps on sleeping during the classes and ultimately ends up with bad grades.

Truth to be told, I feel envious of Osamu-kun's life. My parents get angry at me if they find me playing during night. If my grades drop, they don't give me money to buy new games. "How great would it be if I could live Osamu-kun's life", I always think to myself. However, whenever I play against him, I feel as if instead of enjoying the game, he's playing for the sole purpose of winning. That's because his face takes a frightening expression during that time.

One day...

Japanese Cryptic: The aged cat

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

Our family had a cat who had been a part of our family even before I was born.
As I grew up, the cat also aged with me and grew weaker and weaker .

Right from my childhood, I had health problems, so every now and then I'd get asthma attacks and had to be rushed to the hospital.

During my elementary school, I got severe asthma attack. I was hospitalized.

In the hospital room I saw a dream.

In that dream I saw my cat saying something to me.

"A-chan, are you in pain?"
"I'm going to a far away place, so I'll also take your pain with me."

When I opened up my eyes, I got news from my parents that our cat has passed away.

From that time I never got any attack and have never had any asthma problem.

It seems like my cat really took my pain away from me...

Japanese Cryptic: The cleaning duty

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

That day, it was my turn to perform cleaning duty in the arts room at my school.
I wanted to get done with it quickly and leave for home. So, while performing the cleaning haphazardly, I came across a painting which looked very different from others, for it was decorated in a peculiar way as if it was a valuable thing.

That painting was a portrait of a very beautiful woman. Her eyes were a little strange, though.

She was staring right at me with her big pupils. This unsettled me and therefore, I returned home quickly after that.

The next day when I reached school, I saw a huge commotion going on. I seemed like the painting I had seen yesterday was stolen. Obviously, I was the last person to have witnessed it, so I got called up by the art teacher.

"Hmm...It was present when you were doing the cleaning, right?"

"Yes, no doubt about it. Umm...was it a very valuable painting?"

"It was created by a friend of mine. He called it 'The Sleeping Beauty'. It was the painting of his sleeping daughter. Not much valuable if you ask me. Also, both the artist and the daughter are no longer in this world."

"Is that so...?"

We never found the painting.
The strange thing is that we didn't even find any traces of the thief.

Japanese Cryptic: The old-man who lived in mountains

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

There was a old-man who got so fed up with the humanity that he started living deep in the mountains.

The old-man had a grand-child called Jesse who would write him letters everyday to ease his mind.

Jesse continued to send him letters everyday. It went on for months until one day when the old-man didn't receive any letter. He kept on waiting but no letter came even after a week. The old-man was worried now.

He left the mountains and headed to the city to find about his grand-child. When he reached the grand-child's house, he came to know that his grandchild had been murdered by someone.

This saddened him; tears rolled out of his eyes. He vowed to catch the murderer.

"No, I think I already know...Only that guy could be the murderer..."
