Japanese Cryptic: The puzzle

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

I've started living alone just recently.
I've decorated the interior of my room with a puzzle.
That puzzle has a special property. It absorbs the light from surrounding and glows faintly in the dark.
Yesterday, when I returned home at night, it was glowing in my dark room.

It makes me want to put up more such puzzles in my room.
This time I'll buy 200 puzzles of the same size.

Gengar in Pokemon Fire Red

The first generation Pokemon game had only 151 Pokemon, but as of now, there are more than 700 Pokemon.

The most famous ghost Pokemon in the first generation games was none other than Gengar.

Gengar's evolution lineage is as follows:

Gastly ----->  Haunter ------> Gengar

The evolution process looks pretty normal, but there is one big question that arises regarding to this evolution process.

Japanese Cryptic: The neighbor

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

It happened one day.

"We're in a big problem! A murderer is coming towards our house! Let's run from here!"
My sister was shouting this when she came back to the house.

???Huh? What was happening, I didn't understand.

But I was scared, so I asked to confirm, "Really a murderer is coming? From where?"

My sister replied in a low voice, "Really! He's near our neighbor's house."

And then...

"That's not the case...Hahahaha!"
A loud laughter came from our neighbor's house.

Japanese Cryptic: The group of bullies

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

When I was in elementary school, a group of 5 students used to bully the guy called A-kun.

A-kun was bad in both sports and studies, and he was always laughing foolishly. That's why he was an easy target for the bullies.

He was a quiet guy. So, when he was bullied, he didn't counterattack. He just said "Please don't do it. Kuchi ani*"

This "Kuchi ani" was his favorite phrase, he would often say the phrase while getting bullied.

I was starting to feel pity for him, so one day I asked to him.
He just laughed foolishly and replied with "It's okay. You don't have to worry about me. ".
But I could see it. His eyes were not of someone who was laughing. This was the first time, I got goosebumps just by looking at someone's eyes.

The next year, he moved schools and then everyone forgot about him gradually.

20 years have passed since that incident.

I was at the class reunion party. A friend said to me while passing alcohol.
"I remembered something just now...

You remember, the guys who used to bully A-kun? They all died."

My friend didn't know the details about it, but he told me that when those guys entered the middle school, they became mentally unstable. Everyone of them got hospitalized, and half a year later they all died.

So, that had happened. I was a creepy thing I thought. While thinking about it, I remembered A-kun's favorite phrase.
"Kuchi ani"
"Kuchi ani"
"Kuchi and ani?"
----------------------------
*Kuchi ani- Kuchi(口) and ani(兄) are two Japanese characters which form the word (呪) curse. So, A-kun put a curse on his bullies by repeating those characters.

Gakkou no kaidan: The devil's classroom

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Translated from the DS game  Minna de Taikan Dokusho DS - Chou-Kowai! Gakkou no Kaidan

At around 7-8 years ago, a few extra classrooms were constructed in my school because of sudden increase in the number of students.

There were four classrooms that were constructed in the old school building: classroom A to D.
Classrooms A, B and C were constructed without any problem, but it was the classroom D that made its construction seem impossible.

Some people who were involved in the construction got injuries, while some other people died of unknown causes. Moreover, a lot of strange incidents occurred during the process.

The classroom construction somehow got finished. But even then, the mysterious incidents continued  to occur---even during the lectures.

Japanese Cryptic: Christmas gift

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

At the occasion of Christmas, Tom was looking forward to his Christmas present.
When he woke up in the morning, he saw 3 presents under the Christmas tree.
He saw that Santa was peeking at him through the window. The Santa was grinning and looking at Tom.
Tom looked at the Santa and grinned back at him at with displeasure, then he went to the open up the presents.

Tom picked up the first present. The Santa started grinning even more. Tom opened it up and inside the box he found long trousers.
Tom became a little disappointed. He then went on to open up the second present. The Santa was laughing while holding his stomach. Tom opened up the second present; he found a soccer ball inside it. Tom grew more and more angry with the Santa.

Tom, now went on to open up the biggest present box. There was a bicycle inside it.
Santa was now rolling on the snow laughing.
Finally, Tom couldn't stand it anymore and broke into tears.

-----------------------------
I really feel bad for Tom :(

Japanese Cryptic: Monitor's screen

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

It happened a few years ago. I was heading back to my house from school, together with my friend. In the midway of our conversation, my friend asked for an advice.

"Something weird is happening with my PC monitor lately. Its screen reflects me, but that reflection carries a very big and eerie smile. Moreover, the reflection waves its hands at me. What should I do?"
He asked.

"Is he joking?", I thought. But his face was dead serious when he asked that question. So, I replied, "Shouldn't you wave at him back?"
That was the only suitable advice I could give.

Japanese Cryptic: Help! Son is going to kill me!

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

"Help me! My son is going to kill me!!"
The message from 110* number sounded something like that. I, being a new-comer, got excited and headed towards the place, together with my senior.

When we finally reached the place after 20 minutes---the address was inferred by the telephone number---we saw a normal looking house.
We used the house's inter-phone and out came a haggard looking guy who looked in his 20s. Behind him was a old lady who was grinning.

Japanese Cryptic: Blog visitor

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

I run a blog and, for some reason, I get only one visit everyday.
Probably, only one person visits my blog everyday.
That person doesn't comment on my blog, but he does visit. That's for sure.
He visits the instant I add anything new to my blog.
In other words, he checks my blog for new updates. That's quite amazing.
Because of him, I get encouraged and update my blog everyday.
I think, maybe, someday I could ask for his impressions about my blog.
Maybe I'll get some encouragement from him.

Japanese Cryptic: The photo

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

A party was held on my birthday.
A group photo of everyone in the room was taken. But something strange got captured in the photo.

A woman was glaring at the camera from the closet. She had a white face and red eyes.

I took the photo to a psychic and asked him about it.
He said, "I don't get any supernatural aura from this photo. There is nothing spiritual about this photo."
Haha. I was getting scared for no reason.

Japanese Cryptic: The yellow parka

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

On a certain day, I went to the apartment of my friend, who lived on the opposite side of a shopping district.

That apartment has a common toilet on the first floor. My friend's room is in the innermost portion of the first floor.

We drank together until the next morning; therefore,  I went to the toilet immediately after that.

While doing my business in the toilet, I saw a guy wearing a yellow parka who was shouting "GOOD MORNING!!" and was looking around restlessly. I replied, "Good Morning" and returned to the room without giving it much thought.

Japanese Cryptic: Security camera

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

It happened on night.
In a certain building in Osaka,
a security guard saw a suspicious silhouette of a person on the security TV screen from the security camera.
That person was staring at the camera after it had got out of the toilet.

The guard left his coworker in the TV room and went to the person's place to investigate about the it.
When he reached in-front of the toilet, there was nothing.
He looked over and found that camera was nowhere to be seen.

Japanese Ghost Story: From behind

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Ghost Story

It happened last year at around 3 AM at night.
I was driving my car on a highway.
The highway was near the coast-lands, so the wind was quite strong in that area. That's why I was driving somewhat slowly.

I paid up money at the toll booth and continued driving my car. At a distance, I could see something white in color.
What's that?
Thinking that, I passed horizontally through it.
It was a woman wearing white clothes.
"Eh??"
I looked at my rear view mirror to confirm it.

Japanese Urban Legend: Demonic murderer

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Urban Legend

Whether you believe it or not, it depends on you.

It happened on a certain winter's night.
My mother asked, "Distribute these circular notices to the neighbors."
I agreed reluctantly and went to do the job. Luckily, the recipients' houses were inside the apartment building, so it wasn't much trouble.

After completing the job, I was returning to my house, when suddenly I heard a sound.
"Ke Ke Ke Ke Ke Ke Ke Ke..."
It sounded like a strange crying sound.
I thought, "Maybe, it's an insect.", and calmly looked over to my surroundings.
But there was nothing.

Japanese Urban Legend: The Policeman

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Urban Legend

There was a guy who lived in an apartment building.
After returning from the work, he entered the elevator of his apartment.
When the elevator reached the floor, on which he lived, the elevator door opened and he collided with another guy who was entering the elevator.
That guy was someone whom he had never seen in the apartment building before.

The next morning, the guy came to know about the neighbor's murder that had happened yesterday's night.

Japanese Urban Legend :Hands on the railway platform

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Urban Legend

A man was standing on the railway platform, waiting for the train to come.
Usually, he would listen to the music or read some book to kill the time; but today, for some reason, he was looking towards the railway track.
At that moment, he noticed something between the railway track and the platform.
...No mistaking it, he saw human hands. Human hands that were holding on to the platform.

railway station image
By any chance, did someone fall on the tracks and was trying to climb up on the  platform? The station member, who was standing near, was unmoved by the situation. It seemed like he didn't care.

Is it that thing? Ghostly phenomenon? This was the first time the man had seen something from the other world. But even then, he was more curious than scared.

So, he moved toward the edge of the platform and looked down at the tracks.

Japanese Cryptic: Unhappy Person

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

I am an unhappy person.
I want to die quickly.
I don't want to live anymore.
Even you think the same?
There is no such thing as fun.
Let's die together.

Japanese Cryptic: Child's hands' marks

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

It happened when I was in my car, waiting for the traffic signal to change.
All of a sudden, a tapping sound started coming from the back of my car.
Who's there? Police?
Thinking it might be police I turned around, but there was no one.
Huh? While thinking about it, I found that there were marks of a child's hand on the rear seat window.
Was I scared? I was feeling frightened. I stretched my hand towards the window and wiped them by scrubbing briskly!

But if I think about it calmly,

The neighborhood children were playing energetically before I had entered in the car.
As often the case is, I think I've become quite a coward after reading all those creepy threads on net. LOL.

Japanese Cryptic: Mirror

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

When I'm in my room, I get the feeling that someone's looking at me.
I don't get that feeling in the living room or some other room.

When I'm in the room facing towards the table, I get that feeling definitely.
It's too creepy and I think someone is peeking from the outside.
I stand in front of the window and open the curtains to take a look outside.
Instantly, I get frightened by the silhouette of someone, reflected on the window, who is behind me.
But when I look at it carefully, I notice that it's my own reflection from the mirror situated opposite to the window.

I look at the reflection that is facing towards me.

I get it. This reflection is the reason why I keep getting the feeling of someone looking at me.

Japanese Cryptic: Watermelon

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

There was a farmer who didn't know what to do with the person who was stealing and eating his watermelons.

He wondered whether a countermeasure exists. After racking up his brain for a while, he came up with the greatest idea. He made a signboard and put it in the farm.

The next day when the thief came to the farm, he read that signboard.
"Warning!

Cryptic Story

A conversation at school.
Me: "I'm having a headache."
Friend: "What's up with that dead-like face. LOL. Are you OK? LOL. Lie down and rest."
Me: "...Yes, I'll do that."
Friend: "You'll be all right if you sleep. Take care. Nowadays, diseases like influenza are widespread."
Me: "Yes, they are."
Friend: "If you are unlucky, you might even die."

Japanese Cryptic: From today, I'll live alone

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

After overcoming the resistance* from my parents, I've started to live alone from today.

I woke up alone, ate the breakfast alone, and put the garbage in order before throwing it out.

I'm happy that I can finally live alone---something I longed for.

I lock up the door. I then greet the old lady from the neighborhood, who water the plants every morning.

After that, I head to school.
----------------------------------------------------
* The original word was 押し切って (oshikitte): The word can either mean overcoming the resistance or to press and cut something.

Japanese Cryptic: B - Kun

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

It happened one evening.

I was in my room, reading a book, when suddenly there was a tapping sound on my window. Surprised, I looked back and saw that my friend B - Kun* was tapping on the window excitedly.

B: "A- Kun, open it up!"
I opened up the window, while in a state of confusion, and B-Kun said out to me.

B: "You know, this happened to me a while back! "
A: "Hold on. Wait a minute. I want to know something before that. "
B: "Just listen to me. A while back, I was riding my bicycle. I was riding it on the beach, you know."
A: "uh-huh."
B: "After riding it for a while, I felt something was strange and got off the bicycle."

Japanese Urban Legend: Eye Pain

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Urban Legend

"Mom, it hurts!"
A girl ran towards her mother while holding her eye.

"Where? Let me see it." , said the mother while looking at the girl, who was holding her left eye.
Due to constant rubbing of the eye, it had become red in color. The mother put eye-drops in that eye.

After a while, the girl became cheerful and said, "It doesn't hurt anymore."
The mother thought that some dirt might have got into her eye. So she got relieved.

After a few days...
