Japanese Cryptic: The Clever Crow

Cryptic Story

 

Grandma: "After that, the the clever crow... "

A: "Jeez! I've heard that story so many times. I'm tired of it~"

Grandma: "You must understand how much moral this story has. (Sigh!) Okay, go out and play. I'm going to cool the watermelon in the well. We'll eat it after the dinner."

A: "Hey, B-chan. There is a watermelon in this well, do you want to take a look?"

B: "Where, where? Ah! I see it!"

A: "(Pushing B down the well ) There you go."

B: "Gyaaaa!!!"

*Splash*

A: "Hehehehehe~"

C: "Hey, A-chan. What are you doing?"

A: "C-chan, you know, there is a watermelon in this well. Want to peek?"

C: "Where, where? Huh! B-chan??"

A: "(Pushing C down the well ) There you go."

C: "Gyaaaa!!!"

*Splash*

 A: "Hehehehehe~
Oh! Hi, D-chan. You know there is a watermelon...."

A: "Grandma is a liar!!"

      A-kun is using the clever crow story to increase the water level by pushing the other kids in the well.

    If I'm not wrong, A is trying to copy the crow. The story of the crow should be the one where it drops rocks into a bottle so that the water would rise up, allowing it to drink.
    In this case, A is using his friends as rocks to try and get the watermelon.

      Unforunately for A, watermelons are denser than humans, so the bodies would float on top instead.

      Seems to require far less effort to carry out. Unless they didn't want to pelt and damage the watermelon.

      In a sense, pushing people down the well requires less effort than throwing rocks since he doesn't have to find and carry them to the well. He might also have thought that bigger=better and there's no way he could carry a rock the size of a human. Thus, he just used humans instead.

      Just like the other anon said people are heavy and easier to push in the well, so A decided to use the friends.
