Japanese Cryptic: Where's my key?

Translated from Japanese by Shishou(師匠)

Cryptic Story

When I was returning home from work, I got hit with this sudden realization of not having the house-key with me.

Shit! I'm in serious trouble now.

What should I do...? It's already 2AM; the landlord must be fast asleep by now.

I don't even have a duplicate key....

Did I drop it somewhere...but I remember putting it in my wallet.

Don't tell me! Did my money...

...Thank god, my money is safe in my wallet.

It does seem like I dropped the key somewhere.

I really don't want to waste my money on hotel tonight...

...Tch, I'm going to ask for help from the landlord.

-Next Morning-

I really messed up yesterday. The landlord was enraged at me for disturbing his sleep.

Well, I'll have to get a new key now.

aa...huh...? What the...?

So here it is, silly me. It was on my tabletop all along!

Haha, I was worried for no reason.

  1. If he had left it on the table, he couldn't lock himself out. But the door WAS locked because the landlord had to let him in. Someone found the key and brought it back. Since the door was locked, they're still there.

    3. I agree with ScotchCakes, the one who "steal/ found" the key is still in the room with the narrator. Maybe, a creepy stalker was enjoying his/her time watch the narrator sleeping.

    4. ScotchCakes theory is correct. Our narrator should immediately get the hell outta that room.

  2. PLOT TWIST!!!
the author has Alzheimer or like that cindition Drewbarry Moore in 50 first Date movie and forgot he has a lover who loves the author so much and taking care the author's needs. Of course, the one who put the key back was the lover.

    1. Lol but if he had that condition, he would already have forgotten about being locked out the next morning

  3. Actually, it would work if the Author's type if amnesia is the same with Kamijou Touma from To aru Majutsu no Index. Touma suffered brain injury that made him unable to recognize a girl named Shokuhou Misaki, even though he met her quite often, and the brain damage made him unable to remember what the girl was saying a few minutes ago, and forgot of her existence.
